Jacob Jansen

POLICY ADVISOR

Passionate about public service and dedicated to advocating for causes at Babbage Cofounder, Jacob Jansen serves as a Policy Advisor, effectively communicating needs and priorities to leaders and lawmakers in Kentucky and beyond.

Through his career at Babbage Cofounder, Jacob has built upon a strong academic foundation in public administration, research, advocacy, and policy analysis. As a Policy Advisor, he tracks the decision-making process for Kentucky's executive and legislative branches, providing key insight to help move issues through the process. Jacob helps manage coalitions and has contributed to significant strides in health policy and initiatives on behalf of people with diabetes.

Jacob holds dual degrees in Philosophy, Politics, and the Public, as well as Economics, from Xavier University. Driven by a strong commitment to public service, he completed his MPA at the University of Kentucky Martin School in his native Lexington, KY. As a Public Policy Fellow, he promoted research findings on the 'benefits cliff' to legislators and think tanks in both the Ohio Statehouse and Washington DC.

Throughout his academic career Jacob actively engaged in special projects, from comprehensive literature reviews on postsecondary investment, to research briefs on dual enrollment outcomes, and a state financial and budgetary practices audit on behalf of the Volcker Alliance. He contributed an essay to the historical collection "Avondale: An Urban History" published by Commonwealth Books, which explores the socio-economic transformations of a vibrant Cincinnati community.

Like others at Babbage Cofounder, Jacob’s policy experience extends beyond America, as he served as Parliamentary Aide in the Office of MP Andrew Stephenson in the UK House of Commons. There, he gained valuable insights into political operations and processes involved in shaping policies worldwide.

Over the years, Jacob’s ability to build and sustain support for initiatives combined with his first-rate research, effective communication of complex policy issues, and timely mobilization of stakeholders continues to result in legislative success - and lasting outcomes.
