Sarah Wood serves as Policy Director for Babbage Cofounder, where she leads the firm’s association management arm and works with clients across industries to advance legislative, funding, and organizational priorities at the local, state, and federal levels. Her portfolio spans healthcare, aerospace and aviation, energy, technology, agriculture, economic development, education, and the arts.

Through Babbage Cofounder’s association management practice, Sarah serves as Executive Vice President of the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians and the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. Working closely with their boards, members, and partners, she oversees strategy, governance, operations, advocacy, communications, and member engagement for the 1,250-member statewide professional association and its foundation.

Sarah has helped turn major economic development initiatives into funded priorities. Across two state budget cycles, she helped secure $8 million for the relocation and development of a new aerospace education center and museum, including leading the successful effort that doubled the state’s initial investment. She continues to support the project’s broader capital campaign.

Her healthcare policy work has focused on prescription drug affordability, pharmacy benefit manager reform, prior authorization, and access to care. Working across multiple states, Sarah has helped develop and advance legislation, played an integral role in passing PBM reform in three states, and presented before legislative committees, national conferences of elected officials, and advocacy organizations.

Before entering government relations, Sarah served in Ukraine as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Fellow at a university displaced by the conflict in eastern Ukraine. She taught English, created an English-language program with a local radio station, and contributed to U.S. Embassy-supported education, civic engagement, and leadership initiatives across the country. Her earlier experience also includes working as a research analyst for a Washington, D.C.-based due diligence firm and interning with the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security’s intelligence fusion center.

A native of West Virginia, Sarah earned undergraduate degrees in Russian Language and Integrated Strategic Communication from the University of Kentucky, along with a minor in International Studies. She later earned her master’s degree from UK’s Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce. During graduate school, she taught a section of War and Society as a teaching assistant in the Department of History. Sarah now serves on the Patterson School’s Board of Advisors and has been named a Notable Woman in Kentucky Politics and Government by the Kentucky Gazette for two consecutive years.
